Ebola Controversy!! Rapper Akon Singing In Plastic Bubble In Africa To Avoid Catching Deadly DIsease?
It looks like when it comes to the Ebola virus some people aren't taking any risks. Rapper Akon, who performed during the International Day of Peace festival in the city of Goma in The Democratic Repbulic of Congo, took extreme precautions to avoid catching the deadly disease. The "Smack That," singer took a note from the made-for-TV movie, The Boy In the Plastic Bubble, and secured himself in a giant rubber ball so that he didn't catch the sickness from the festivalgoers.
After a diagnosis of a Dallas man earlier this week, the world has broken into a Ebola frenzy, with people taken serious steps to avoid contracting the illness.
Yahoo has just posted pictures of the hip-hop singer crowd surfing over the 60,000 attendees of the event in his plastic bubble.
However, The Source was the first site to report that the mood of transportation was used as a way to avoid the disease, stating, "The Ebolda virus is now joke, and to avoid contracting it from anybody, when Akon left the stage to crowd surf with the people that were attending his concert, he did so in a huge plastic protective bubble."
Yahoo, however, brings up the fact that the bubble has been used not only in Africa but also in other stops on his tour including in Australia, India, and Dubai.
They also go on to state that Akon isn't the only artist to use the plastic ball. Sugarland, the Flaming Lip, and Diplo, among others, have also taken to the crowd surfing in the rubber ball. While the bubble did manage to keep the germs out, Yahoo thinks Akon was doing this just for fun, not as a safety precaution.
The rapper has yet to comment on the controversy.
