To celebrate another season of CSI, the iconic Cheers star Ted Danson sat down last week with Entertainment Weekly's Kyle Anderson and chatted about his lengthy career. During which, he touched on the secret to comedy. As examples, he cited Seinfeld and his former Cheers co-star Woody Harrelson.

In the below highlights, Danson can be heard answering an audience member who asked him his feelings about being made fun of on Seinfeld back in the 90s. Fans will remember several instances in which Danson was brought up by George Costanza (Jason Alexander) around the time he and Jerry Seinfeld were to get their own NBC series.

On being the butt of the joke, Danson doled out some A-level advice. "I've discovered that you don't have to be the one telling the joke. As long as you're in the room with funny, you get the credit for funny."

He added the difference of having a funny joke and a non-funny joke on scene, claiming that if it was funny, the rest of the cast would be behind you at the right moment. If it turned out to lean more non-comical, "it was like tumbleweeds."

Danson continued reminiscing about his Cheers days, noting that when Harrelson made a leap into film with Doc Hollywood, he asked Danson to come along. He did, only to find out there was a joke about the lead in there. Luckily, Danson finally got him back in the 2012 Seth MacFarlane film, Ted.

In the second clip, we hear the interviewee discussing yet again his own career. "Here's my motto: Keep working. Because otherwise what happens is, somebody will have watched a rerun of Sam Malone when I'm 34 to 44, and then they'll see me on the street now and go, 'Geez, you look like sh*t!'"
