'Independence Day 2' Movie Plot, Release Day Rumors - Jeff Goldblum Talks Alien Invasion Seuqel, Will Smith & More: "It's Brewing"
The widely talked-about Independence Day 2 movie project has slowly been moving from rumors to a possibility lately, but a lack of updates has fans worried. In a recent interview with Time Magazine, star Jeff Goldblum insisted that he's still interested in returning to the alien invasion franchise and that, for now, the project is "brewing."
"I had a meeting and have been talking over the last several months or year with Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, the producer, and they've been cooking up and say they have a part for me in what they hope will be a plan to make another one pretty soon," he explained. "... they're still talking about it and I've heard recent rumblings here and there about it, and 'Oh, there's a scripting coming in' - maybe last weekend there was a script handed in, so it's brewing."
As you can see, there are a few tidbits we can take away from Goldblum's quote. A script has been drafted and Emmerich is definitely trying to move this project forward. Will Smith was mentioned in the interview, but only in question, so Goldblum might be trying to avoid bringing up the biggest piece of the puzzle that's still missing.
Meanwhile, Goldblum also mentioned his other sci-fi movie franchise, Jurassic Park. When asked about the upcoming Jurassic World project, the actor got very excited.
Well, people like that Jurassic Park thing, and I think they're making another which I tell them, I'll be first in line for, but am not in," he stated.
