Sofia Vergara Covers ‘Shape’ Magazine And Shares Her Workout Motto: “No Pain, No Cake!”
Modern Family star Sofia Vergara is Shape magazine's November cover girl and she looks flawless. The 42-year-old actress opens up about her workout motto, her love of candy and how to find the balance between food and working out.
Sofia has a killer body, but she isn't a crazy workout person, in fact she hasn't always liked working out, but now she knows it is necessary. With the help of her costar Julie Bowen, who plays Claire Dunphy on Modern Family, she has become more focused when it comes to working out.
"Being around Julie and seeing how motivated she is... I started to think more about it," Sofia admitted to Shape. She now workouts with trainer Jennifer Yates by using a Pilates-style machine called the Megaformer. "With this machine, I was able to figure out what worked for me. I don't love it at all, but I love how my body's changing."
All of her hard work doesn't mean she doesn't still have a weakness for candy and sweets. "I heard about someone in LA who got hypnotized so they wouldn't eat candy. I'm seriously looking into that because I'm obsessed," the Colombian-born actress revealed to the publication.

Even though she has always been fit, Sofia admits that once she hit 40, she started to see "softness" and then knew she needed to focus more on her workout regiment. She has now found her balance with food and working out, even though it isn't always living in Los Angeles where there are a lot of places with high-fat dishes.
"When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day," she explains. "My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!"
In the newest Shape issue, Sofia explains how to get the best body at 42-years-old, but she notes it would have been easier to start when she was in her 20s. "My body is looking better than it used to, but I wish I had worked out more when I was younger and taken it as seriously as I do now," she told Shape.
