'Star Trek 3' Release date, Plot SPOILERS: 'Into Darkness' Stars John Cho & Bruce Greenwood Talk Director Roberto Orci & Possible New Roles In 2016 Blockbuster

Star Trek 3 updates and talk has been piling in over the last few weeks, thanks to cast and crew members sharing their excitement about the project in numerous interviews. This week, John Cho and Bruce Greenwood, who both starred in the first two Star Trek reboot films (Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness), spoke about writer-turned-director Roberto Orci and their excitement about the next film, which has a release date set for summer 2016. Meanwhile, Greenwood had to address his possible return, which would be pretty interesting considering how Into Darkness turned out for his character, Captain Pike.

"I was gutted. I was gutted. ... I understand why they did it. And I think it was a good idea. I think it provided Kirk some real pain to generate the revenge he had to learn to grow out of," the acclaimed actor said of Pike's demise in an interview with Trek Movie. But as we know, death doesn't mean the end of a character - which is kind of unfortunate if you don't like the fact that Khan's blood brought Kirk back to life miraculously. Can the same happen for Pike or will we simply see a flashback or something a little less "out there?"

"Well I think there is always room," Greenwood said about his return to the series, adding: "But if they did bring him back, it is how they bring him back. If you bring him back as a memory, then at least you still serve a death as a death. So, you don't want to give him a dose of Khan's blood and have him bounding back into the room. Because the next time somebody dies it doesn't really mean anything. "

So there you have it - it all depends on how Orci and his team want to bring back Pike!

Meanwhile, Cho had some great quotes about Orci, praising the director and his vision.

"I'm absolutely confident in Bob (we assume he's on a nickname-basis with his new boos). No one knows these characters better than Bob," Cho said in a recent AMA session on Reddit. "And no one knows the Star Trek universe better than Bob. I think he's going to blow people away. And I don't know anything about Star Trek 3. I'm guessing I'm in it? I just went in for a costume fitting."
