‘Mulaney’ Episode Two Recap: Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ Comedian Delivers The Top 9 Moments Of “The Doula” [VIDEO]
Episode two of Mulaney kicked off earlier tonight delivering a feel of a truly growing sitcom. Throughout the episode titled "The Doula," comedian John Mulaney finds himself trying to overcome two issues: his ever-flirtatious boss and his fear of vaginas. Yes, really.
The show's lead is currently dating a doula, played by Eagleheart's own Maria Thayer. Despite her respectable profession, Mulaney just cannot seem to shake his fear of talking about childbirth. But don't worry, he's got some help to get him through it!
Below are some of the best moments from tonight's episode of Mulaney:
1. Mulaney's Vagina Comparison
It's an odd comparison, but perhaps the funniest line of tonight's episode came when the comedian and his gang were discussing genitalia. Following admitting that he sometimes passes out at the mere thought of childbirth, Mulaney delivers the gem, "I feel about vaginas the way I do about America: I love it but once in a while it does things that disgusts me."
2. Martin Short's Pervy Behavior
A large part of tonight's episode dealt with Martin Short's somewhat pervy behavior: hitting on contestants, their mothers and even their daughters over the phone. And if you think changing "Sorority Week" to "Veterans Week" would solve things, you'd be surprised!
3. Creative Producer
Are these real? If so, Mulaney has outed Hollywood! According to the show's faux stage manager, Mary Jo, a Creative Producer is a "joke title for some skinny b*tch the host has sex with." Oh, and apparently Mulaney's character is a creative producer. Oh boy...
4. Mary Jo
Speaking of! Mary Jo, played by comedian Fortune Feimster, is without a doubt the best character on the new FOX series. Just take a look at some of her lines:
"Did you get Lou to empty it out?
"I haven't seen anyone that horny since me at a Rush concert."
"Get Lou cranked off!"
Need we say more?
5. Air Conditioner Birth
We don't know how the writers came up with equating childbirth to trying to kick an air conditioner out of window but "The Doula" did so pretty hilariously!
6. Elliott Gould (Still Weird)
Yep, Elliot Gould is still pretty strange during this episode, but you can't not love him for giving Mulaney some pretty terrible advice about getting over his fear of childbirth. Well, maybe it worked a little bit.
7. "Mr. Episiotomy!"
We should probably start by saying do NOT Google episiotomy. But DO check out the totally comical Mr. Episiotomy-Italian gentleman bit that Mulaney, Motif (Seaton Smith) and Jane (Nasim Pedrad) came up with.
8. Andre's Lonely Lifting
Is anyone else going to try this the next time they move something? As the show's punching bag, Andre (Zack Pearlman) is seen a few times in "The Doula" helping his "friends" move a couple of items. One thing, though. Those friends he thinks are on the other side, well, aren't.
9. How Martin Short "Let It Out"
We guess you sometimes just have to do things yourself, huh? At least, that's what Mary Jo felt about Lou Cannon's flirty problem. Yep, really. And there's video to prove it... which is why "The Doula" ended with Mulaney passed out in a pool of placenta after a birth.
So, what did you think of tonight's Mulaney? Any better than the pilot?
