Amy Poehler Drug Use: 'Parks & Rec' Star Says She Used Cocaine And Ecstasy When She Was Younger
Amy Poehler is an open book — literally. The actress and comedian is opening up about her life in her new memoir Yes, Please, including something fans would be surprised to know about the Parks & Recreation star. The star opens up about the times she tried drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy, in a chapter titled "Obligatory Drug Stories."
RadarOnline got a hold of a few excerpts from the book, and from what we've read we can already tell it's going to be hysterical.
"I tried cocaine, which I instantly loved but eventually hated," the mother of two explains in the book. "Cocaine is terrific if you want to hang out with people you don't know very well and play Ping-Pong all night. It's bad for almost everything else .... The day after cocaine is rough."
In another excerpt, the star opens up about a time she tried ecstacy.
"I remember a wonderful UCB [United Citizen Brigade comedy group] New Year's Eve party where we all danced and drank water and loved each other," the 44-year-old SNL alumna recalls. "I also remember the next day when I thought I had no friends and I was so sad and I wanted to sink into the carpet and permanently live there."
According to E! News, which also posted some of the excerpts, what ultimately caused the star to not partake in the hardcore drugs anymore was the realization that she couldn't do the hangovers the following day.
"The next day is the thing I can't pull off anymore," Poehler explains. "How do you explain to a 4- and 6-year-old that you can't play Rescue Bots because you have to spend all day in bed eating Cape Cod potato chips and watching The Bicycle Thief?"
