Rob Lowe To Star In New NBC Comedy: ‘Parks And Recreation,’ ‘The West Wing’ Actor Reunites With Pete Huyck, Alex Gregory

Looks like things continue to go well for the never-aging Rob Lowe. It's been reported by Deadline that the Parks and Recreation and The West Wing star is attached to a pilot project alongside writers Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory.

Lowe reportedly worked with the pair last year on the comedy pilot The Pro. And while that never went to series, the trio loved working together so much that they decided to try their hand at another project.

Deadline also notes that the upcoming Lowe-Huyck-Gregory single-camera vehicle will be produced by ABC Studios and air (hopefully) on NBC.

Centering on a "worldly, adventurous, and newly sober narcissist," (Lowe), the show will follow his character as he attempts to become a now-present father to two teenage children. With many attempts to make amends with the son and daughter who barely know him – along with his ex-wife, her second ex-husband and their young son – it's possible that this project could land Lowe on television for some more years. Adding to the comedy angle, it's being said that the very people in the pilot Lowe's character is trying to get close with, after so many years of doing the opposite, are rather wary of his newfound fervor.

Lowe will executive produce the untitled project with both Gregory and Huyck. Marc Gurvitz, of Brillstein Entertainment, will also reportedly act as executive producer.

Before kicking off their Lowe projects, both Gregory and Huyck have had stellar writing credits, working together on the likes of Fraiser, The Larry Sanders Show and Late Show with David Letterman. And Rob Lowe... well, he's Rob Lowe.
