CBS Digital Subscription Service - Network Launching All Access Streaming Service

CBS is about to get into the digital streaming game with a brand new subscription service entitled All Access. Just like other digital services, this new venture will allow viewers to subscribe to the network's exclusive content like series and specials without having to go through a cable contract. This news comes right after HBO announced the same type of subscription service would be available in 2015 for its own network.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter this week about the announcement, CBS Interactive executive vice president of sports, news and entertainment Marc DeBevoise detailed how CBS was not trying to compete with Netlfix, considering the network brings in a lot of revenue from the streaming website.

"This product is definitely something we're using to go after the 'cord nevers,' who are not subscribing to a bunch of other larger services that include our content - and there are definitely millions of those people in this country," he said. "In terms of cord-cutting or -shaving, our view is that our service is priced to be complementary to the other services that are out there. If you are interested in a large bundle of channels that has a lot of various things in it, you may not be a subscriber to this service. But if you're deeply interested in one, two or many of our shows, getting our content outside of your home or buying earlier access to our content on mobile devices, then you're one of our superfans and you're going to convert."

So it looks like HBO will consider CBS a direct competitor as well. What do you think of this news? Read more over at THR right HERE and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
