'Ben-Hur' Remake Movie, Casting News, Release Date, Trailer Spoilers - 'Game Of Thrones' Star Perdo Pascal & Wonder Woman Gal Gadot Join Jack Huston For Biblical Epic
The upcoming Ben-Hur remake starring Jack Huston and Toby Kebbell has apparently added some great talents to the growing cast. Game of Thrones breakout star Pedro Pascal has signed on to portray Pontius Pilate, a pivotal Biblical character (he sentence Jesus Christ to death) and an important role in the Timur Bekmambetov-directed movie. Also, Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, is reportedly in talks to play Esther, Ben-Hur's love interest!
The movie will star Huston as the title character, Jewish prince Judah Ben-Hur, and Kebbell as his nemesis Messala. Morgan Freeman is also starring as Ben-Hur's mentor.
Deadline reported on Pascal's casting, explaining that "Pontius Pilate plays a significant role in this version of Ben-Hur, which hews closer to the 1880 Lew Wallace novel and its parallel storyline to Jesus Christ than did the 1959 William Wyler-directed film that won the Best Actor Academy Award to Charlton Heston, and 10 other Oscars."
While this other casting news hasn't exactly been confirmed yet, it looks like Gal Gadot could be turning in her Fast & Furious experience fro a new set of wheels in the chariot race film, too. Reports claim that Gadot, who is set to portray Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, is in talks to join the Ben-Hur cast.
The Hollywood Reporter broke this news, explaining that Gadot would be great for the role of Esther, the main love interest of the film. Gadot has yet to officially sign on.
