Marriage doesn't have to be for everyone. Joshua Jackson, star of Showtime's new series The Affair, may have been dating his girlfriend, Diane Kruger, since 2006, but don't expect the star to put a ring on her finger anytime soon. The actor spoke out today as to why he doesn't feel the need to get hitched to Kruger.

According to the November issue of Glamour magazine, the 36-year-old says that when it comes to marriage he doesn't see the need.

"I can tell you why we're not married: We're not religious. I don't feel any more or less committed to Diane for not having stood in front of a priest and had a giant party," the star explained to the publication. "We're both children of divorce, so it's hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that shows you've grown up and are committed to another person."

However, for all those hopeless romantics out there, there might still be hope of these two getting married, as he explained things can always change.

"But it may change at some point," he said. "We may get married."

According to E! News, Kruger spoke out to Glamour back in 2011 where she echoed Jackson's sentiments revealing that she doesn't believe that marriage needs to be something everyone does.

"Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage," the actress explained. "I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There's no paper that will make you stay."

She also reveals to Marie Claire U.K. that her relationship has been easy since Josh shares the same viewpoints as her.

"I'm grateful that I met a person who feels the same not just about me but also our relationship."
