'The Last Of Us' Movie, Maisie Williams As Ellie? [VIDEO] 'Game Of Thrones' Starlet Teases New Film Roles - From Arya Stark To Video Game Heroine?
While we love seeing actress Maisie Williams as Arya Stark on HBO's hit series Game of Thrones, fans of the show know all too well that this young actress has a bright future ahead of her, so we could easily see her in other roles. In a new interview while promoting her latest project The Falling, Maisie teased us all with possibly the coolest casting rumor of all time: she apparently met with casting director to play Ellie in the Sam Raimi- produced adaptation of the hit video game The Last of Us!
We have to wait quite some time for the upcoming season 5 episodes of Game of Thrones, but new casting rumors for Williams are sure to hold us over with new excitement until then, right? Considering how popular The Last of Us was in and out of the gaming universe, a movie was not too far behind. Adding in this rising star to the mix is such a great idea, too!
"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie. That's really exciting and I would absolutely love to. It kind of all came about on Twitter a long time ago," she told Coming Soon this week. "The power of Twitter still never ceases to amaze me. I went to a lunch and we spoke a little bit about it, and then they announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it. Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment. There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."
We know this isn't a confirmation, but we're just happy to hear Maisie actually talking about the role!
