'American Pie' Alum Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara Star In New Comedy 'Schitt's Creek' [TRAILER]
American Pie alum Eugene Levy is going to star alongside Catherine O'Hara in a brand new comedy called Schitt's Creek. The hilarious show will mark the first scripted series from POP.
POP network will launch in 2015 coming from the TVGN or the TV Guide Network as its rebranded network. It will be the first show for the new channel but with film veterans Eugene and Catherine on board it has the potential to be great.
Schitt's Creek is a half-hour comedy about a family who is forced to live in the town; called Schitt's Creek after they find themselves broke. They relocated to the town, because they previously bought it as a joke and now they have nothing else, TV Line reported.
The series stars Levy as Johnny Rose (who was filthy rich to start), his wife Moira played by O'Hara (a soap opera diva) and their two kids, played by Annie Murphy and actor's real-life son Daniel Levy. How I Met Your Mother alum Chris Elliot will also star in the comedy as the town's mayor, Roland Schitt.
"[Schitt's Creek] answers the question-what would the Kardashians do if they woke up one day, completely broke?" POP's president of entertainment and media Brad Schwartz said in a statement.
Under the new POP brand, the show Rock This Boat: New Kids on the Block about the NKOTB fans hanging out on a cruise ship will also premiere. Plus, The Story Behind, which is a docu-series about TV's greatest shows will air.
"A strong brand differentiates a network from its peers. The inspiration for POP is simple-when something stands out from the rest, it pops. It's what everyone is talking about. It's an exceptional talent. It's a one-of-a-kind maverick," Brad said in a statement about the new brand, via Entertainment Weekly.
"When something is so good that it earns a culture of fandom, that's POP-and that's what we want our channel to symbolize, a fresh new media personality that puts us firmly alongside the audience."
