Syfy's 'Z Nation' Renewed: Will Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, Kellita Smith Return For Season 2?
Syfy has picked up its zombie drama series midway through its first season. With the zombie apocalypse spreading everywhere in Z Nation, will cast members, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, and Kellita Smith, survive to make it through Season 2?
In the plot synopsis, three years have passed since a zombie virus has devastated the rest of the United States. A group of strangers have discovered an infected survivor, who is somehow immune to the zombie disease. With his body full of antibodies, the group has to travel from New York to California, where the only functioning lab is waiting for him.
The Supernatural actor is Citizen Z, a lone soldier who guides the group, steering them through safe passage. That Thing You Do! actor andThe Bernie Mac Show comedic actress play former members of the National Guard tasked with transporting their Patient Zero. These are just some of the players in the ensemble cast who have made it through the freshmen season.
Rich Cowan, co-founder of production company, North by Northwest, tells The Spokes-Man Review, "We're showing the TV and film industry that we can deliver network episodic television directly out of Spokane. We're thrilled and so happy for the crew."
Z Nation is SyFy's third highest-rated scripted show, receiving an average of 1.4 million viewers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Syfy has been renewing its original dramas lineup. Dominion, Defiance and Helix have already been given the okay for another season. Gale Anne Hurd's drama Hunters and a miniseries based on Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End have also been added to the slate.
Because of pending contract negotiations, Cowan has not commented on whether season 2 will continue to be filmed in Eastern Washington.
