'Chrisley Knows Best' Star Todd Chrisley Opens Up About Bankruptcy & Son Kyle's Struggles
In a recent interview with People magazine, millionaire Todd Chrisley, of the USA reality series Chrisley Knows Best, opens up about his 2012 bankruptcy filing and issues with his oldest son Kyle, 23.
"We had no idea how this was going to turn out," said the 46-year-old real estate tycoon turned reality star. "The fans have been wonderful."
Although the show gained immediate traction with the quick-tongued Southern speaking Chrisley that's not to say it wasn't without media scrutiny. In March, details of the family's 2012 bankruptcy filing became public. It disclosed that the reality star was $45 million in debt.
As People reported, Chrisley listed $4.2 million in assets. The star filed a petition for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in August 2012.
On the show, Chrisley has been heard affirming his alleged richness, "In a year, we sometimes spend $300,000 or more, just on clothing." The former real estate mogul is now focusing on fashion, getting his foot in the door to build his vision of Chrisley Department Store.
Bankruptcy isn't the only headline that the family has been under scrutiny for. Chrisley's oldest son Kyle, who appeared on the first season, was issued an arrest warrant after an alleged altercation with the mother of his child.
"Kyle has his struggles, and we all try to lift him up," divulged Chrisley.
Kyle's young daughter, Chloe, who is also on both seasons of the show, is now living with Chrisley and his wife in their 30,000-sq.-ft. Atlanta mansion.
So, how does the negative press affect the department store hopeful? "We're moving forward," he said. "It's always hard to have unfortunate situations in your life, but the family is all good. We're very blessed."
