Peter Jackson's upcoming final installment of his The Hobbit trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies is going to run about 3 hours, as we're sure you all know. Fortunately for fans of the Tolkien stories will get to enjoy the climactic battle mentioned in the title for a hefty amount of screen time. According to reports, this massive fight will run about 45 minutes long, meaning just under a third of the movie will be focused on the fighting!

"There's a lot of logistics that have to be thought through," the director told Entertainment Weekly (via The Independent). "We have dwarves and men and elves and orcs, all with different cultures, with different weapons, and different shields and patterns and tactics."

Focusing on the eagles used in Tolkien's writing, Jackson added: "Tolkien uses eagles in a way that can be kind of awkward because they tend to show up out of the blue and change things pretty quickly. So here they're just part of the plan, not the saviors."
