Britain's 'Wire In The Blood' Being Adapted For A New ABC Series
Another TV show is making its way across the pond! ABC's now developing the British series Wire in the Blood for an American version of the crime drama.
According to TV Line, Wire in the Blood is being adapted for ABC by ABC Studios and Endemol Studios. The series uses characters created by Val McDermid, a Scottish suspense novelist and crime writer.
The British version of the series ran for six seasons from 2002-08. Coastal Productions originally created it for the ITV network.
"Wire In The Blood is described as a unique, character-driven procedural which exposes the gaps between good and evil, our public and private selves and the psychological limits of human behavior," Deadline reported.
"When detective Elizabeth Chase struggles to evade the succession of women in New York City who have turned up dead, she recruits the help of unconventional clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill, who has a talent for catching killers before they are able to strike again. Dr. Hill analyzes both victim and killer, demonstrating empathy for both sides," the publication explained of the storyline.
According to Endemol Studios executive vice president Jeremy Gold, "Dr. Tony Hill is a true iconoclast unlike any character on television today. He provides a very unique prism into the criminal mind."
A.M. Homes, who has written numerous novels including May We Be Forgiven and written for The L Word, will be writing the script for the American version of Wire in the Blood. David Hobberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks will executive produce the series with Sandra Jobling from Coastal Productions.
"Bringing the iconic character Tony Hill to American audiences has been a passion of ours for a number of years. We are thrilled to be partnering with the Endemol Studios team on this exciting endeavor," a statement from David, Todd and Laurie read.
