Mojang Sets 'Scrolls' Release Date - 'Minecraft' Developers Aiming For November

The highly anticipated video game follow-up to Minecraft from developer Mojang, Scrolls, finally has a release date almost set. We say "almost," because Mojang is saying that November is the aim for the release, meaning the game that took so long to get off of the ground and out of Alpha and Beta testing will be on shelves in less than a month. Do you think Scrolls will really come out in November or possibly get pushed back?

In a new interview with Touch Arcade, Mojang's Owen Hill announced the release date.

"The guesstimate is late November, but we're not going to release it until it's ready, if you know what I mean," he said, according to IGN.

So far, Scrolls has been in development for about three years, with the most recent version remaining in Beta until November, apparently. Adding on to what Hill says, game producer and artist Henrik Pettersson says that a release doesn't mean that development will stop in November.

"Final release' just means we're taking it out of beta, but we want to continue development after that," he explained.

As IGN points out, Scrolls will be the first release from Mojang after Microsoft purchased the company earlier this year.

"We've been so busy with our launch of Scrolls and scrambling to get everything ready, we're just happy to hear that Microsoft won't be changing anything in the short term," Pettersson said. "They're buying Mojang to keep Mojang working as it has been. There's a good chance that the only effect is that we'll have to add a Microsoft logo to the launcher or something."
