Stephen Colbert Slams Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert About Bigoted Comments On Gays In The Military [WATCH]
If you weren't aware of Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert before this reporting, you're about to be. On last night's episode of The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert brilliantly dedicated an entire segment to ripping Gohmert apart for comments he made about gays in the military.
"When it comes to defending America there is no one I trust more than Texas Congressman and confused piece of gnocchi Louie Gohmert," Colbert said, introducing the piece. He then went on and presented the congressman's comments –– things that "no one has the slightest desire to say..."
"I've had people say, 'Hey, there's nothing wrong with gays in the military. Look at the Greeks.'" said Gohmert. "Well, they did have people come along who were the same sex and would give them massages before they went into battle, but you know what? It's a different kind of fighting. It's a different kind of war..."
The congressman then added, "If you're sitting around getting massages all day ready to go in the big planned battle then you're not going to last very long. It's guerilla fighting. You are going to be ultimately vulnerable to terrorism."
Joking that Gohmert must have brushed up on his history by watching the "gay version of the film 300," the Comedy Central host continued to slam the representative's bigoted stance on gays in the military and his "IQ of a butter dish" – through a discourse of hilarity, of course.
