'The Flash' Recap: Grant Gustin's Barry Allen Meets Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold In "Going Rogue!"
A old acquaintance resurfaces and a new enemy shows up on CW's The Flash. Based on the DC Comics superhero, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is about to meet Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) in the episode, 'Going Rogue?'
Using his super-speed, Barry plays chess with Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), a board game with Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), and ping pong with Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes). Moments later, he stops a robbery in progress but Leonard Snart (Miller) is able to get away. Felicity Smoak (Emily Brett Rickards) shows up at the lab where Barry was struck by lightning.
While Barry shows Felicity his superpowers and introduces her to his team, Leonard meets a buyer who stole the top secret equipment from S.T.A.R. labs. After holding the freeze ray in his hands, Leonard decides to use it on the buyer. While Leonard plans his next robbery, Iris sets up a double date with her, Felicity, and Barry.
Harrison yells at Cisco because he discovers his freeze ray is missing. During the date, Eddie (Rick Cosnett) gets a call about Leonard Snart's sighting. Barry rushes off while Felicity makes up a plausible excuse for him.
The Flash rushes into the museum, trying to stop Captain Cold's robbery. Realizing his weakness, Captain Cold starts shooting at civilians with the freeze ray. The Flash is too slow to save the security guard, who ends up frozen solid.
Barry is furious at Cisco for not telling him about the freeze ray. Cisco made the freeze ray as an emergency precaution in case Barry turned out to be a super villain. Betrayed by his friend, Barry leaves upset, reeling from the guard's death.
Felicity tries to give advice to Barry, who is still angry at Cisco. After the team has pinpointed Captain Cold's exact location, Barry turns off his head mic and refuses to listen to anyone. Felicity reminds Caitlin and Cisco that they don't give up on each other, no matter what.
Joe and Eddie are hunting after Captain Cold, who has stolen the diamond from the museum. Eddie saves Joe before Captain Cold can hurt him. The Flash arrives all of sudden, continuing the chase onto the train.
Fooling the Flash, Captain Cold freezes the tracks and escapes. With all the passengers in danger, the Flash has to get each one out of the train before the entire thing crashes. With everyone outside safe and sound, Captain Cold shoots the Flash with his freeze ray.
With his freeze ray pointed at the Flash, Captain Cold is suddenly interrupted by Cisco and the team. Cisco promises to shoot him with an even bigger freeze ray. The Flash wins this round, but they will see Captain Cold again.
Just as everyone has said their farewell to Felicity, Harrison squeezes Cisco's arm tightly. He doesn't want Cisco to make another mistake like that again. Cisco is nervous and frightened of his mentor at that moment.
Barry rushes to the train that Felicity is on. During their talk, they realize the two are attracted to others who are already taken. Promising to be there for her, Barry gives Felicity a goodbye kiss before leaving the train.
Captain Cold is last seen recruiting a new member for his team, who just might be Heat Wave.
The Flash hasn't seen the last of Captain Cold. Readers, what did you think of Going Rogue?
