5 Reasons Clive Barker's 'Nightbreed: Director's Cut' DVD/Blu-Ray Is Cult Classic Gem! [WATCH]
With Halloween coming up, there is one special movie, a bona-fide cult classic in its own right, that you should get from Shout! Factory. From the legendary horror icon, film fanatics should not miss out on Clive Barker's Nightbreed: The Director's Cut, which is currently out on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Nightbreed centers on Aaron Boone (Craig Sheffer), a young man plagued by dreams of a dark place occupied by monster. Drugged by his psychiatrist Decker (David Cronenberg), he is framed for a series of murders he didn't commit. As his girlfriend Lori (Anne Bobby) attempts to find him, Boone becomes lost in a underground city where monsters live, known as Median. Here are five reasons why you should get Clive Barker's Nightbreed: The Director's Cut on DVD and Blu-Ray.
5) Danny Elfman Soundtrack
In an interview with Empire, Barker describes his collaboration with the Batman composer as, "That's one of the things that still makes me smile about the whole thing, is Danny's contribution. One of the things that was positively reviewed across the board was Danny's score. It was a vision of truly loving monster music!"
4) The Version You've Never Seen
Back in the '90s, studio interference caused the horror fantasy to be released with 17 scenes cut, making the film feel abrupt and unfinished. According to Popmatters, at least 40 minutes of previously unreleased footage have been restored and this is fairly close to Barker's original vision, which is described to be "fantastic."
3) Special Features
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Blu-ray also has an awesome number of bonus features. Among the extras, there is a documentary entitled, Tribes of the Moon: The Making of Nightbreed. You can also read more about the making-of Nightbreed in the current issue of EW.

2) It's Also A Comic Book
As we mentioned here, the story of Nightbreed continues in comic book form from BOOM! Studios. With artwork that is truly amazing to look at and a new spin on the Cabal novella, this is a must-read series.
1) Hellraiser
This is from the same guy who had disturbing sights to show you, and oh man were they. Barker is also known as the creator of Pinhead, who's coming back one more time in novel format, entitled Scarlet Gospels.
