WATCH: '12 Monkeys' Syfy TV Series Trailer [VIDEO] 2015 Episodes Promise Time-Travel And High Body Count

Syfy will premiere the highly anticipated new series 12 Monkeys, based on the 1995 film of the same name starring Bruce Willis and Madeline Stowe, in early 2015 and this week we got our first trailer for the show. This is set up as a complete reimagination of the story, but involves the same sci-fi elements of time-travel and epidemics.

Aaron Sanford and Amanda Schull star in the new series, which will surely be one of the biggest shows on TV next year.

Here's the official synopsis of the new Syfy series (via YouTube):

12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveler, Cole, from the post-apocalyptic future. Using a dangerous and untested method of time travel, Cole arrives in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate 93.6% of the human race. Will Cole be able to save the fate of mankind or is mankind bound by fate? Taking place in the ravaged future of 2043 and the present day (2015), 12 Monkeys explores themes of destiny, fate, love and the possibility of second chances.
