Steven Gerrard, Brendan Rodgers & Alan Pardew: Liverpool Offers New Deal To Hero As Newcastle Boss Vows A City Celebration After Shocking Premier League Win

Both Brendan Rodgers and Alan Pardew have had a poor start to the 2014/15 Premier League season, however, things have now turned around for the latter. Today, the pair faced one another, when their Liverpool and Newcastle sides hoped to get one over on one another. However, in the midst of the Steven Gerrard contract talks, the Reds fell to yet another defeat, leaving the Toon boss, Pardew, in good spirits, claiming he would have his very own city celebration, especially now that he was able to "show his face" in public. Will Liverpool continue their slump?

Liverpool may be building for the future, but Rodgers addressed Gerrard's recent claims that he could leave for an EPL rival, saying "I explained to Steven's representative that I want him to be part of what we're doing here. He's been a brilliant captain for me. I want to keep him here. I relayed that information to the owners. I'm sure they'll go away with that and with Steven's representatives, hopefully organize a deal. He's a unique player and a unique person."

Toon boss Alan was only interested in celebrating, saying "It'll be fantastic in the town tonight - I might even go in myself, the first time for a while. That is what this city is about. It breathes and loves football. I always knew, and I kept saying it, that we have good spirit and good talent. I am not saying I saw the wins coming, but I knew there was talent. When it does not go well, they let you know, and when it is going well, they let you know. You take the good with the bad."

While Newcastle's slump appears to be over, it appears Liverpool's might only just be beginning. Could the Reds give up on Rodgers and Gerrard?
