Matthew McConaughey Cried Three Times While Watching 'Interstellar'

Interstellar actor Matthew McConaughey revealed he cried while watching his own film at the NYC premiere.

"I watched it, and I cried three times," he said of the blockbuster hit during the New York City premiere. (via People)

The movie, directed by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises), depicts a group of explorers who find a wormhole that will surpass where any human has tried to conquer in space travel.

McConaughey's co-stars include Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), which makes this movie filled with Academy Award winners and nominees.

"Even if you don't care that much about the science of it or even the love story between a parent and a child, you just want to go for the wild, epic ride it is," the Mud actor said.

The film shows how McConaughey's character is at a loss when his work causes him to be separated from his children. In real life, the actor is very much a part of his children's life while working.

"I'm very fortunate: I get to take my family with me when I go to work, so my goodbyes so far haven't had to be so long."

The actor has three children with wife Camila. Levi, 6, Vida, 4, and Livingston, 22 months.

In spite of working in overdrive to promote the film, today was McConaughey's birthday. He stopped by Good Morning America and the crew even surprised him with some yummy treats for his 45 birthday!
