‘New Girl’ Recap: 'Background Check' Reveals A Big Meth Problem

New Girl returned with a new episode last night, and it was awesome. "Background Check" revolves around a police check and Jessica Day's misperception of meth.

The episode begins with Schmidt discovering that Cece went on a date with a guy named Paul. He's obviously weird about it, but his craziness is cut short when Winston tells the loft that a sergeant from the police academy is coming over for an at-home background check.

After bonding over how great a trip to the shopping outlets would be on a weekend afternoon, the boys end up agreeing to the background check to help Winston. Oddly, Jess starts to panic and tells Nick, Schmidt and Coach that she has a bag of meth in her closet!

Why does she have the giant bag of meth? She got it at a yard sale ... obviously.

As the group tries to figure out how to get ride of the drugs, Winston goes downstairs to pick up the sergeant. She is not happy and it looks like this is going to be a long interview. Right before they enter the loft, Jess throws the drugs at Schmidt and they go everywhere. The only thing she can do is hide it in her bra.

Once the interview begins, no one knows what to say. Cece comes storming into the apartment, but before she can say the word meth, Schmidt kisses her to shut her up. It's adorable because they clearly still like each other. Meanwhile, Jess runs to the bathroom while Schmidt, Coach, Nick and Cece tell a lie about Winston being a perfect cop because of his work at the Boys & Girls Club.

In order to stop the sergeant from calling the club, Coach leaves to find a fake "little brother" for Winston. This leads to an awkward encounter at the playground and Coach looking like a pedophile.

Back in the bathroom, Jess tries to dump all the meth down the shower drain when Cece comes in to help. They both attempt to flush it down the toilet, but it starts to overflow, causing way more problems. Meanwhile, Nick is getting sweatier as he tries to keep the meth secret from the police officer. He's so sweaty that he puts on a kimono, which is hilarious.

When Schmidt goes to help the girls clean up the bathroom, Nick's left alone with the officer and everyone starts to panic. She starts to grill him and he begins to tell her his horrible life story. As that happens, Winston discovers the meth issue and freaks out.

Meanwhile, Cece messes with Schmidt and tells him she went on a date with Mark-Paul Gosselaar — aka Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell — and he loses it. He loves Zack and has a mini panic attack. She's kidding, so they eventually move on.

While Winston and Jess are in the bathroom, they have a heart-to-heart about him becoming a cop. Jess admits she never thought he'd make it that far, but she'll take full responsibility for the drugs. Plus, she thinks she's on drugs now that they were all kept in her bra for so long.

Winston is hurt that no one believed he could be a police officer. Instead of holding a grudge, he confesses about the drugs. Just then, Jess confesses and drops to the floor, preparing to be handcuffed. The sergeant tells them all to line up on the wall and she searches the bathroom.

What does she find? Not meth, but aquarium rocks! They are all safe and Winston even passed the background test because he's one of the greatest members of the police academy. The episode ends with Coach bringing home a grown man to be Winston's little brother. Coach and the stranger bond over the amazingness that is outlet malls!
