Kristen Johnston Talks 'Exes' Goal To Get Married And The Onscreen Wedding This Season
The Exes returns to TV Land on Wednesday and as the fourth season begins Kristen Johnston is teasing her character's new storyline, which includes a wedding. The 47-year-old plays Holly Franklin in the series and she ready for a walk down the aisle.
In season four, Holly's main goal is to say "I do." The only problem is she doesn't have a fiancé ... but that isn't going to stop her from planning the perfect wedding. "Her main objective is to get married this season," Kristen told TV Line about her character this season.
"In one of the first few episodes, Holly discovers that the [venue] she rented years ago when she was going to get married to Ken Marino's character is still reserved. She gets a reminder saying, 'Your wedding is in sixth months,' so she goes to cancel it, but something happens along the way that sets Holly off. She decides to keep the date and get married in sixth months."
So will she actually walk down the aisle this season, or will her crazy plan fall apart due to its insane nature? "She's successful, but not in the way that people are going to expect," the 3rd Rock From the Sun actress revealed to the publication. "There's a really cool episode down the line with some of the hardest acting I've ever had to do. It's emotional, but still really funny."
Kristen's personal life has been full of ups and downs over the past year after she learned that she had lupus, which turned her life upside down. "Every day I'm amazed that I can lift my head," the 47-year-old star told People about her disease in July. "Every single day is a gift, and I don't take one second of it for granted."
Her illness is not keeping her from her passion for acting. In addition to the new season of The Exes, Kristen will be appearing as a guest star in Modern Family this season as a "hot mess." "I have to admits, it's totally fitting," she told TV Line about her Modern Family character.
