ABC Family's 'Chasing Life' Gets A Second Season And NBC's 'Marry Me' Gets More Episodes
As many TV shows are getting cancelled, two shows are getting better news. ABC Family's Chasing Life has just been picked up for a second season while NBC's Marry Me has been given more episodes for its first season.
On Thursday, E! News confirmed that Chasing Life has been given a second season by the network. "Through the laughter and the tears, our audience has connected with the characters and relationships in Chasing Life and we are thrilled to continue telling April's courageous story," executive vice president of ABC Family's programming and development, Karey Burke told E! News. "Chasing Life has found a home here."
Chasing Life follows April (played by Italia Ricci) as she deals with being diagnosed with cancer at the young age of 24-years-old. The series also stars Mary Page Keller as Sara Carver, Haley Ramm as Brenna, Aisha Dee as Beth and Richard Brancatisano as Dominic. Season one of the hit ABC Family show premiered in June 2014.
"Thank you to everyone who made this happen!" Italia wrote on her Twitter account today. Chasing Life will be returning for the second half of its first season on Dec. 9, with a Christmas-themed episode.
In other happy TV news, NBC upped Marry Me's first season episode count on Wednesday. Variety reported that the NBC comedy would receive five more episodes this season. With these additional episodes, the freshman season of Marry Me will be up to 18 total episodes. Marry Me stars Casey Wilson as Annie and Ken Marino as Jake.
"Marry Me is averaging a 2.0 rating/6 share in adults 18-49 and 6.5 million viewers overall through the season's first six weeks, making it the #2 new broadcast comedy in 18-49 so far this season behind ABC's Black-ish. Of NBC's four comedies this fall (two on Tuesday and two on Thursday), Marry Me is faring the best," Variety reported.
