The remains of missing 20th Century Fox executive Gavin Smith have been found in a shallow grave in a secluded part of California's Angeles National Forest, the Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department said on Sunday (November 2)

Smith has been missing since May 2012, as he was last see leaving a friends' house in Ventura Country. Many searches were had as well as a$20,000 reward posted by Smith's family members.

The news came when hikers discovered the Fox executive's body in Palmdale, California -just north of Los Angeles- his body was positively identified by dental records, however no cause of death is yet to be determined, announced the LA Country Sherriff's Department. (via. LA Times)

In February of 2013 Smith's vehicle was found in a Simi Valley storage locker linked to a convicted drug felon, John Creech. During this time the Sheriff's Department officials ruled Smith's incident a murder. They also stated that they had a "good idea" concerning a motive behind his killing.

A Los Angeles Times reporter stated that Creech said he never met Smith, however deputies believe Smith and Creech's wife had some type of relationship after meeting in rehab.

Creech pleaded no contest in a 2012 conviction of one count of selling and transporting cocaine.

"There are indication that there was some trauma," said a Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department Lt. Dan Dolson at a news conference Thursday (November 6) "There was evidence in the car that indicated that he was killed in the car."

Currently the LA coroner is conducting an autopsy that will hopefully aide in revealing how Smith was killed.

"It could be months, if ever, worst-case scenario," coroner's Lt. David Smith said.
