Arrow Season 3 Spoilers: Photo of Katie Cassidy in Costume as Black Canary

Fans of the CW's Arrow figured it was only a matter of time until Laurel Lance suited up as the Black Canary on the show. But would it happen in Season 3, or would it occur much later? It looks like the answer is sooner rather than later, as an official photo of Katie Cassidy in full costume has been released.

You can check out the photo at the top of the page. It's much more conservative than the one worn by her on-screen sister, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), but it keeps much of the spirit of the older costume.

Laurel is training to follow in her sister's footsteps after an unknown assailant hit Sara with three arrows and sent her hurtling off a roof. This week's episode, "Guilty," teased Roy as the killer, but it turned out to be misdirection as many fans had suspected.

TVLine spoke with executive producer Marc Guggenheim, who discussed the mystery of Sara's killer.

"Look, certainly the mystery of 'Who killed Sara?' is a mystery where there's only so many suspects, mainly because were not going to be jerks and introduce some day player character at the last moment. When the ultimate reveal happens, it will be someone who you know. Or maybe the reveal has already happened? Hopefully we've opened up a world where anything is possible, and to me that's the most fun part of working on the show."

Guggenheim also confirmed that the mystery would not run for the entire season "but at the same time, to tell you when we're going to turn that card over - if we haven't already done so - would be bordering on spoiler territory." He further confirmed that Caity Lotz would appear on the show again down the road and that the writers already have a solid plan for when that will happen.
