Mike Myers Sears Canada Ad Saves Company From Bankruptcy? ‘Austin Powers,’ ‘Shrek’ Stars With Brother Peter In New Campaign [WATCH]
You might not know this, but Sears isn't necessarily the most popular store around. If you don't know that, you probably shop there (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course). Regardless, fear not! Austin Powers and Shrek star Mike Myers is here to help out... Sears Canada, specifically. Because of the company's increasingly low-reputation and their ever-decreasing revenues, the writer-actor stepped in to appear alongside his brother, Peter – a longtime Sears employee – for the below silly ad.
Despite word that Sears Canada is "going away," Peter Myers assures viewers, "We're not going anywhere," telling his brother, "You of all people should know not to believe everything you read in the papers."
And after some minor discussion about the Mike Myers Alien UFO Sex Diet, Peter explains that Sears Canada is also getting leaner. How can they do that? Well, as the comedic actor states, by altering "the trajectory of their business model." First step? New tagline!
Watch the below ad to find out the new tag for Sears Canada:
There you have it! Sears Canada: My brother works there. TM
And while Myers brother may think he's an "idiot" for the line, we're curious if it'll catch on. Since premiering last week, the video (which owns the hashtag #MyBrotherWorksAtSears) has earned over 1.1 million views. Of course, whether or not Sears Canada has been saved remains to be seen. But it's a good start!
Following the release, Peter Myers tweeted out:
As for Mike Myers? His last project was 2013's Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, where he sat in as the director. According to IMDB, it's rumored that there will be an Austin Powers 4. For more on that, we'll just have to wait and see.
