Twisted Sister's Dee Snider 'Not Gonna Take' Paul Ryan’s Use of Classic Rock Anthem
Twisted Sister's classic rock tune "We're Not Gonna Take It" is the ultimate anthem against any sort of constraining authority figure, and that includes Mitt Romney's Republican running mate Paul Ryan. Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider made that loud and clear in a recent statement in which he condemns Ryan's use of the song during a presidential rally in Philadelphia that took place on Tuesday.
In a statement made to Talking Points Memo Snider said, "I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my band Twisted Sister's song, 'We're Not Gonna Take It.'"
He went on to add one more humorous little jab against Ryan, stating, "There is almost nothing he for that I agree with except the use of the P90X" (referring to the rigorous workout routine program).
This isn't the first time the Republican Vice President hopeful has been met with disapproval from a musician. Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello wrote a heated Op-Ed for Rolling Stone recently after finding out that Ryan was an avid fan of the rap metal/rock band. Morello describes Ryan as the "embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades," stating:
"I wonder what Ryan's favorite Rage song is? Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of "F- the Police"? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!"
Maybe Ryan should stick to Beethoven or something?
