The gorgeous redhead Amy Adams covers Vogue's December 2014 issue, which hits newsstands on Nov. 19.

The 40-year-old American Hustle actress who has been a five-time Academy Award nominated actress was not exempt from failure when she first moved to Hollywood, even getting fired from acting gigs!

"There was a TV show called Grosse Pointe I was fired from ... I probably sucked. I never got a straight answer. It was my second year in L.A., and I got hired for two pilots and got fired from both of them. The producer called me and said, 'It's just not working.' And I was like, 'I know. I could tell.'"

Most recently the kindhearted actress has played money-making roles in Spike Jonez's Her and David O. Russell's American Hustle which both won her Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.

Currently she stars in Tim Burton's Big Eyes. "I was in a place where I just wanted to play stronger women. And then it came back around and I reread it, and having become a mom, I totally identified with Margaret. Instead of seeing it as naïveté and vulnerability, I could see the strength in her decisions and why she felt she had to continue with the lie."

In regards to being a mom, the Man of Steel actress, has one daughter, Aviana Olea Le Gallo, with actor and artist Darren Le Gallo, whom she met in an acting class.

So when it comes to acting and being a mother, Adams says she's very much a perfectionist.

"I'm a perfectionist. With my work! Not with life. I'm never satisfied with the take. I'll walk away from it, but I could go and go and go. I've had to learn to be OK with it."
