So far, BBC1's hit cop drama series Luther has given audiences three riveting seasons, with Idris Elba showcasing his talents on the Emmy nominated show. Will we see a season 4, though? According to a new interview with Elba, he and showrunner Neil Cross are "desperately" trying to make at least a special finale episode come together. Plus, news broke this week that Luther is coming to the USA on Fox in yet another adaptation of a British show.

Elba was previously on another American adaptation of a British series: The Office. He has received three Outstanding Actor in a Miniseries nominations at the Emmy's for his portrayal of DI John Luther. A Russian remake of the show debuted this year as well.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is bringing the show to the States. What do you think of this adaptation news?

Meanwhile, Elba recently spoke to Radio Times about bringing the series to an end with a special episode finale.

"I am desperately trying to make that happen. I think we're gonna probably do one more incarnation on TV. But not a season - a one-off," he explained. "There's a story idea but no script yet. But we're gunning to do it at the end of this year. There's a lot of pressure from everyone to make it, so we're gonna do it."

He added: "I put my heart and soul into it. I love John Luther. I played John at a very dark time in my life. And I so love John because I get to exorcise; it's so cathartic, it's therapy. He's got so much going on, but he lives with it. He makes decisions and he does things that Idris Elba is not allowed to do."
