So You Think You Can Dance is officially getting another season. The reality dance competition has been renewed for a 12th season, according to the Fox network. The new season, however, will have a twist.

Fox renewed its Emmy Award-winning series for a 12th season today, Nov. 18, and when the dance series returns in 2015 there will be a few changes. From the beginning of the season at the audition stage, dances that advance will be placed into two teams: "Stage," which are styles like jazz or ballet, and "Street," which will be made up of hip-hop or breaking styles.

Once the competition progresses, the top 20 dancers will be made up of the top 10 "stage" dancers and the top 10 "street" dancers. According to the network, one dancer from each team will be eliminated each week leading up to the season finale, which will ask the question, "Who will win ... a dancer from the stage or the street?"

"So You Think You Can Dance is a rare jewel. It combines high art with mass entertainment in a seamless, sophisticated and hugely satisfying way," Simon Andreae, executive vice president of alternative entertainment at the Fox Broadcasting Co., said in a press release.

"It's produced and consumed with tremendous passion and it's developed one of the most deservedly loyal followings in all of unscripted television. We are immensely proud to be returning it to the schedule with a thrilling new twist that will bring it up to date and introduce a whole new set of rooting opportunities."

Audition cities and date have yet to be announced for the 2015 summer season, but the network promises they will be revealed soon.

Co-creator and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe also commented on the hit series, saying, "The competition is going to be much more exciting for viewers and even more demanding for the dancers."

He added, "Dancers from different genres have always been competitive with each other, and we've found a great way to harness that to bring out the absolute best performances in the best dancers across the country."
