'The Flash' Recap: Grant Gustin's Barry Allen Meets DC Comics' Girder in "The Flash Is Born!"
Another super villain from the DC Comics Universe shows up on CW's The Flash. As the scarlet speedster receives his new name, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has to face off against The Girder in The Flash Is Born.
The Flash (Gustin) meets The Girder, a met human who can turn his body into steel. After getting his butt handed to him, the Flash has to run away before he is pulverized. After Barry recognizes his enemy used to bully him, the Girder then arrives at Iris (Candice Patton)' job and threatens her.
Barry and Eddie (Rick Cosnett) discover how Tony Woodward was made into a metahuman. After receiving his pink slip, Tony fell into a vat of molten scrap and was transformed due to particle accelerator explosion. The Flash then discovers Tony's hideout, only to be beaten up again by The Girder.
Cisco (Carlos Valdes) discovers the only way to beat the Girder is for Barry to break the sound barrier. He has to run past 800 Mph to give a sonic boom punch. Caitlin (Daniele Panabaker) is worried because if Barry does it wrong, he breaks every bone in his body.
At their lunch date, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) reveals he is suspicious of Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) because he arrived a month before Nora Allen's death. Harrison puts money on the table, telling Joe he should look up a name. He couldn't have murdered Barry's mother because of what happened to him.
The Girder knocks out Iris' two bodyguards and then kidnaps her. Barry is learning how to pull punches thanks to Eddie. They are both in shock as soon as they hear Iris has been kidnapped.
The Girder takes Iris back to their old elementary school. As soon as she gets the chance, Iris pulls the fire alarm. At the precinct, Joe hears about the alarm and tells Barry to go fight his bully and save Iris for him.
After getting beat-up again, the Flash runs out of the building and stops exactly where he should be. Breaking the sound barrier, the Flash hits the Girder with a sonic boom. Iris then knocks out the Girder, who is in his human form.
Joe meets with Harrison and apologizes for his accusations. Harrison moved to Central City because his loved one passed away from a car crash. Harrison didn't have the strength, nor the concept of the particle accelerator until 10 years later after he arrived.
The Girder is trapped in his prison cell and cannot get out. Barry thanks Caitlin and Cisco, who wants The Flash to take care of his bully now. Iris is proud of herself because she has named the Red Streak now "The Flash."
Joe suddenly feels a whirlpool inside his living room. The Reverse Flash stole all the files related to Nora Allen's murder. A photo of Iris has been stabbed to the wall, with the message that says, "Stop Looking."
The Reverse Flash made a reappearance in The Flash. Readers, what did you think of The Flash Is Born?
