'Secret Wars' #1: Alex Ross Cover Kicks Off Jonathan Hickman, Esad Ribic's Epic Marvel Superheroes Event!
Marvel Comics presents the first cover to next year's game-changing crossover event, Secret Wars #1. From the creative team of writer Jonathan Hickman (Avengers) and artist Esad Ribic (Thor: God of Thunder), legendary painter Alex Ross illustrates the Marvel superheroes in a spectacular battle that spreads across the universe.
In this eight-issue event, the Marvel superheroes from separate realities are going to come together to meet in this epic standoff. In the drawing, notice how there are different planets, but each one seems to be crashing into each other. We've been loving Ribic's variant covers for Thor featuring Female Thor, which is why we very anxious to see his interior covers.
From the gorgeously rendered cover by Ross, we can tell everybody is involved in the crossover, from the Inhumans to the Fantastic Four. We here at MStars are huge fans of the Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man series, and we've been covering each action-packed issue. We're glad to see Miles participating in this cosmic event, but we wonder if he loses, does this mean this end of the Ultimate Universe?
We previously reported on the teasers and the Battleworld trailer. Each alternate universe forms the new Battleworld in Hickman and Ribic's reboot of Secret Wars. In the original Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck's Secret Wars comic, Battleworld was a planet that the Beyonder put together from numerous worlds. The Beyonder envisioned a battleground for all of the Marvel's superheroes and super-villains to fight in.
