One Direction, Amy Adams, Nicki Minaj, James Franco, Martin Freeman, Charli XCX, To Head Up 'Saturday Night Live' Holiday Specials

Look out - One Direction will be spending plenty of time in America this holiday period with the British boy band set to be the musical guest for Saturday Night Live's Xmas extravaganza hosted by the stunning Amy Adams. They'll be joining Nicki Minaj, James Franco, Charli XCX and The Hobbit's Martin Freeman in the final run of SNL shows for the year.

According to USA Today, James Franco will be hosting the Dec. 6 show ahead of his movie with Seth Rogen, The Interview, but will be battling for screen time with that week's musical guest Nicki Minaj, whose new album The Pinkprint is slated for a Dec. 15 release. It will be Franco's third time hosting the sketch show, and it will be MInaj's second stint as a musical guest.

On Dec. 13 British actor Martin Freeman will put aside Sting and take the reins for SNL for the first time in his career ahead of the release of holiday blockbuster The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. He'll be joined by another SNL first-timer in popstar Charli XCX, who has turned into a global superstar over the past 12 months, and whose highly anticipated album Sucker will be out that week. 

One Direction have just released Four, the band's fourth album, and have been on a seemingly non-stop promo trail, but a sudden storm of controversy hitting the boy band this week after Zayn Malik missed the band's performance on The Today Show due to an upset stomach. It's all good now, however, and the band will join Amy Adams for the Dec. 20 Christmas episode of SNL. It will be the band's third time on the venerable show, while it marks Adams' second turn as host as she's out promoting her movie Big Eyes, which is released on Christmas Day.
