Queen Latifah Show Cancelled- Find Out Why The Network Pulled The Plug On The Hip-Hop Superstar's Talk Show

Queen Latifah's talk show - aptly titled The Queen Latifah Show - won't be back for a third season. Sony has reportedly pulled the plug on the morning talk show, with sources saying costs are to blame.  

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sony said in a statement "We want to thank Dana [aka Dana Owens / Queen Latifah], the producers and the entire staff of The Queen Latifah Show for creating a program that we are all very proud of." 

"Thank you also to our terrific station partners and advertisers who supported the show."

TMZ reports that "sources say the staff was brought into an office Friday AM and given the news. The honchos weren't specific but it's all about ratings and cost." The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, say that The Queen Latifah Show "has not been the ratings performer that CBS-owned stations had hoped".

It prompted Queen Latifah - who also recently hosted the Hollywood Film Awards - to take to Facebook and post a note seemingly to herself thanking everyone involved in the show.  

"Dear Dana," says the post, "Just a little note to say Thank You... Thank you for your strong work ethic and great effort in getting The Queen Latifah Show off the ground and running."

She goes on to thanks her family, partners, staff and crew, and finishes off by saying "This letter is for me, my staff, my crew, and everyone who was by my side for this incredible journey. The most important thing in life is that you wake up every single day and take chances. No matter what the outcome...believe in yourself and continue to fly."

As EW note, this is the second time Queen Latifah has had a talk show canceled on her, with the first iteration of her show screening between 1999 and 2001, with the current show premiering in 2011. TMZ say that production will be halting, while EW report that the Queen Latifah show will produce episodes until March.
