Homeland Season 4 Spoilers: New Episode 'There's Something Else Going On' Features Shocking Surprise Twist

Season 4 of Homeland has been uneven, but the show has returned its focus to CIA work rather than the romantic life of its lead, Carrie Mathison. The overarching plot of the season has dealt with Haqqani and his capture of Saul, and the two sides are about to execute a prisoner exchange. But the new episode this Sunday, ominously entitled "There's Something Else Going On," will feature a surprise twist.

At least, that's what the "Spoiler Room" column at EW.com reports. "Do not miss Sunday's explosive episode, in which Carrie works to make sure the prisoner exchange all goes to plan. (Hint: It won't.) Though there's been clues laid out throughout the season, you'll never see the surprise twist coming."

The site understandably doesn't give away too much, but it does give us something to consider. What could these clues have been, and what will we learn on Sunday?

EW.com's preview tracks with what we learned from the "Mega Buzz" column at TV Guide earlier this week.

"The episode's key setpiece involves a long, nerve-wracking prisoner exchange that goes awry almost from the start - and it's an angry Saul who starts the trouble! Amidst Saul's (understandable) tantrum and the threat that either side could open fire at any moment, Carrie will have to be at her best to once again talk her mentor off the ledge. But, naturally, it's only after you get a moment to breathe that the show hits you with the episode's real doozy."

Remember that Saul was prepared to kill himself in the last episode to avoid recapturing, but Carrie convinced him not to do it in an extremely tense scene. The "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine also warns that the next episode will keep you gripped.

"This Sunday's episode ranks among the Top 5 best Homeland episodesever. Much of the focus is on the prisoner swap - Saul in exchange for those half-dozen terrorists - and Carrie's familiar feeling that something is amiss. I'm not going to tell you if her suspicions turn out to be correct, but I will tell you to make sure the edge of the seat is comfortable, because you'll be fused to it during much of the hour."
