Johnny Depp may have some friendly competition in the hotness department as Brenton Thwaites is in talks to star in the much-anticipated fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean 5, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jack Sparrow may be acting alongside the 25-year-old Australian actor, who would be taking on the role of a British soldier.

Exchanging one hot accent for another, it works!

The Giver actor is best known for his role portraying Luke Gallagher in the Fox8 teen drama series, SLiDE and Stu Henderson in the soap opera Home and Away.

Thwaites was born in Queensland and after graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 2010, he relocated to Sydney to join the long-running soap opera.

Other reports have surfaced from Variety that Javier Bardeem is in talks with Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg to play the villain in the fifth installment.

The film is in pre-production right in Thwaites backyard of Oz, so it would be interesting if he turned down the role.

"I want to go back home and make movies in Australia. There's so many stories that we haven't captured yet," Thwaites told Interview magazine. "In Australia, we cling on to whatever culture we have. We're such a multicultural country. I think it's evident in our industry that we find it hard to represent our country in an abundance of different cultures. So I'd like to go back and tell some stories that are different. Every country has their own little culture in cinema, and I think we should mix it around a bit."
