Fox's 'Gotham' Spoilers: Will Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue Meet Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy?
Before the winter finale of the Batman prequel, Gotham, airs on Fox, there are already plans for more characters from the DC Comics Universe to make their way to the television screen. Will Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) end up crossing paths with the crime companions, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn?
In our previous recap, Gordon (McKenzie) has hired a lawyer, Harvey Dent (Nicholas D'Agosto), brave enough to take on Gotham's violent mob bosses. While Dent flips Two-Face's infamous coin, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is already infatuated with bad girl, Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). Everybody will end up in the crossfire as Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) intends on starting a turf war against her rivals.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator/showrunner Bruno Heller has set plans for what's coming up. Though we haven't seen her since the pilot, Poison Ivy (Clare Foley) will make a reappearance in the series. We previously discovered her father was framed by the police for the Wayne Murders.
As to whether or not audiences will meet the Joker's sidekick and lover, Heller reveals, "That aspect of the show-which characters to use and when - is a source of constant discussion. And that may well have been an issue that came up and was dropped ... We haven't got Harley Quinn in it. Riddler's girlfriend is coming up. And Harley Quinn is definitely planned for later on, but so far no."
We previously mentioned the detectives will indeed meet a younger version of Doctor Jonathan Crane, aka The Scarecrow, the super-villain who uses chemicals to induce fear. Heller adds, "Everyone's character is formed in their childhood to some degree or another. His father is involved, as is part of the character's mythology."
Though we met The Comedian who told morbid jokes to Fish in the pilot, we still wonder if that was the prince of time himself.
