TNT Casts Michael Stahl-David In New Pilot While ABC Cancels' John Stamos' Series 'Members Only'
This week offers two big TV announcements. TNT has cast Michael Stahl-David in its new pilot, while ABC has officially canceled John Stamos' new series Members Only.
Person of Interest actor Michael Stahl-David is the newest face to be added to TNT's new drama pilot. According to TV Line the My Generation actor will be in Jerry Bruckheimer's untitled drama, which revolves around the Florida drug trade during the 1970s.
"[Michael] will play Bobby Nickel, a charismatic, brilliant and driven man who came from nothing and quickly learned to make his own rules. Now a husband, father and successful pot runner working for a local Cuban drug lord, Bobby leads a double life — both in business and in love," TV Line reported.
Currently the cast includes Weeds' star Elizabeth Perkins as Bobby's mom and Kristen Hager as Bobby's wife. Jerry Bruckheimer will produce the series alongside the writer of the pilot, Michelle Ashford (from Masters of Sex), Jonathan Littman, Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman.
While TNT is moving forward with their new pilot, ABC has canceled one of their series before it even aired. On Sunday The Hollywood Reporter exclusively learned that Members Only would be cut from ABC's new lineup. The series was supposed to star Full House alum John Stamos and Breaking Bad's Betsy Brandt.
The straight-to-series show was originally picked up in January, but it didn't make the final cut. ABC still has a lot of new series that will be joining its already strong lineup when the midseason premieres start.
According to THR, "ABC's midseason roster also includes hour-long soap Astronaut Wives Club, Captain America spinoff Agent Carter, John Riley's American Crime, The Whispers and Ryan Phillippe's Secrets and Lies as well as comedies Galavant and Fresh Off the Boat."
