Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union & LeBron James: Newly Married Miami Heat's NBA Star Nothing Without 'The King'?
Dwyane Wade is nothing without LeBron "The King" James, according to GQ. The pair had a staggering four-year spell together, dominating the NBA, but as Wade's injury concerns grew, James couldn't leave the Miami Heat any quicker. Despite marrying one of the most beautiful women on the planet in Gabrielle Union, Wade has been listed as the 8th least influential person in the world in 2014, according to the magazine. With Wade struggling to return to fitness, and no James around to save him, is he closing in on an early retirement?
Drew Magary of GQ insisted "We all know the real reason [LeBron James] left Miami is because the once great Wade can't guard a column of marching ants at this point. His knees are the only things in America right now that are rusting faster than Cleveland." P
erhaps that's a harsh assessment, but is it one that can be argued against? On current form, no. Wade has struggled to get on the court, spending far more time with his wife, Union, than earning his NBA salary.
However, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra insisted, "Each day he is getting a little bit stronger." Is he hoping Wade returns and makes a difference, or is he 100% sure that the NBA superstar still has more to offer? Wade has had injury concerns across the past few seasons, and there's little to suggest they will vanish any time soon.
Although the Heat are doing well, Wade just might not be in their plans any more, and this GQ acknowledgement is one he wouldn't want on his resume, but sadly it's not likely to be the last negative comment against his name.
