'Chew' Spoilers: Will Steven Yuen, 'The Walking Dead' Glenn Rhee, Become "Angry, Loud, & Obnoxious?'
Just as The Walking Dead is heading towards its mid-season finale on AMC, a major update has come about for another popular Image Comics title. Known as Glenn Rhee to audiences, Steven Yuen teases about his upcoming animated feature, Chew.
Written by John Layman and drawn by artist Rob Guillory, the Chew series centers on a detective named Tony Chu, who happens to be a "cibopath." As a cibopath, Chu feels the psychic impressions of whatever food he eats. If he bites into a hamburger, then Chu will instantly gain the history and memories of where the hamburger came from, starting with the cow. As a detective, Chu would feel the psychic impressions of the murdered victim if he ate their finger, which helps him solve the case afterwards.
We previously mentioned that theThe Legend of Korra voice actor will play the role of Chu. Supernatural's Felicia Day will also be starring in the animated movie alongside Yuen. The Guild actress will voice the role of Chu's love interest, Amelia Mintz, a "saboscrivner." As a food critic, Mintz can actually make her readers taste what she is describing.
In an interview with ComicBook, the 30 year old actor reveals the animated project has done preliminary recording on earlier mock-ups of the animation. While the cast finishes up on the recording, the next step is completing the animation. We hope to see an animated clip with Yuen's voice and Guillory's imagery being brought to life.
Yuen explains the differences between Tony and Glenn, "And I'm having a lot of fun showing people different shades of myself and we'll see how that manifests. And Chu is a completely different character from Glenn. Chu is angry, loud and obnoxious sometimes and reluctant. Glenn is heart-filled and soulful and positive. And it's very cool to see that juxtaposition as well."
We also reported that Guillory will be illustrating CM Punk's shot story in Thor Annual #1.
