The Walking Dead Season 5 Spoilers: Midseason Finale Is 'Heartbreaking'
Season 5 of The Walking Dead is in full swing, and the midseason finale will air this Sunday night. Rick's group is prepared to lead the charge on the hospital to rescue Beth and Carol, but will everyone survive? It doesn't seem that way, as executive producer Gale Anne Hurd describes the episode as "heartbreaking."
Hurd spoke to E! Online and gave some advice to fans for the episode, entitled "Coda."
"I would say make sure you have a seatbelt on your couch and a lot of tissues handy," she said.
The site asked how she would describe the midseason finale. "I would say it is heartbreaking," she replied. "It is, I think, completely unexpected and a fantastic way to end the midseason." She also used the word "kickass" to describe it.
Once the episode ends, the wait will begin for the second half of Season 5. E! Online asked what the show's goals are for the back half. "I think the goal is to continue the theme of the first season, really, which is an in-depth examination of each character in our band of survivors and where they find themselves emotionally given the acts they've had to commit to survive," Hurd said.
To that point, will we see characters that have taken a back seat so far this season (such as Michonne and even Rick to an extent) reemerge in the second half? "Oh, yeah. Oh, yes," Hurd replied. "The great thing in having 16 episodes is that we really do have an opportunity to catch up with each of our cast members."
