Kathy Griffin New Fashion Police Host- Comedian Officially Takes Over From Joan Rivers, Has Warning For Hollywood Celebrities!
Watch out, fashion criminals, there's a new acerbic, bitingly funny lady in charge of taking you to task: comedian and actor Kathy Griffin has been confirmed as the new host of E!'s long-running Fashion Police, taking over from the dearly departed Joan Rivers. And, judging from her statement today, Hollywood's elite better stay on their fashion toes, or face the consequences.
The 54 year old Griffin, star of Bravo TV's reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List, takes over from Rivers when Fashion Police returns in 2015, and will be joined by another new face. Brad Goreski, the star of Bravo's It's A Brad, Brad World, will take the spot of outgoing original co-host George Kotsiopoulos. The other Fashion Police panel members, Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic will be returning.
"I get it! These are some big shoes I'm going to fill," Griffin said in a statement via Associated Press. "Joan was truly one of a kind. Now I hope you will accept me for me. I'm just Kathy. Did I say I'm just Kathy? I meant I'm Kathy F__king Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners. I am not holding back so DAMMIT let's have some fun!"
"Kathy just feels right, and Brad brings a fun, new voice to join Giuliana and Kelly in this ensemble," added her daughter Melissa, who's also Fashion Police's Executive Producer. "I'm excited to see where this panel takes this series my mother so adored in this next incarnation."
Giuliana today also tweeted out her approval of the news:
According to deadline.com, the format of Fashion Place will also undergo a transformation, as it shifts away from airing weekly. Instead E! will show "17 episodes throughout the year, focused on the biggest red carpet and fashion events of 2015 including the Oscars, Grammys, Emmys and New York Fashion Week".
They also add that the first new Fashion Police will coincide with first-up coverage of the Golden Globes, and airing on Monday January 12; the show hasn't aired since Rivers' death at age 81 after complications in surgery.
Griffin and Rivers were close, and Griffin has said before that the pair had talked about her taking over the reins of Fashion Police, and instagrammed out a number of tributes after her friend passed.
What do you think, Joan Rangers; is Kathy Griffin a good replacement for Joan? Is she sufficiently funny and harsh to take on Hollywood's elite? Would have rather someone else in her place? Will you miss George?
