Rebecca Romijn Interested in Returning to X-Men Film Series as Mystique
Many cast members of the original X-Men film trilogy returned at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past when Wolverine changed the future through his actions in the 1970s. But one character and actress who did not return was Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, the older version of Jennifer Lawrence's character.
Romijn appeared in the first three X-Men movies (X-Men, X2: X-Men United, and X-Men: The Last Stand) and had a cameo in X-Men: First Class. But could she return in, say, X-Men: Apocalypse or another movie?
The actress told Digital Spy she is "absolutely" willing to come back as older Mystique, but also highlighted the differences between her portrayal and Jennifer Lawrence's.
"But from what I understand, her make-up is very different from the make-up I went through," Romijn said. "I don't think she had to go through everything that I went through. It sounds like [she had an easier time] - although my theory is that going through nine hours of make-up, you're in such a rotten mood, you can't be anything but evil - it turns you into the villain that you need to be to play Mystique properly!"
Apocalypse will be set in the 1980s, so it's unlikely Romijn would return there. But anything is possible in comic book movies.
