The Walking Dead Season 5 Spoilers: What's Next for Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon?
The Season 5 midseason finale of The Walking Dead ended with a bang and the death of Beth (Emily Kinney). The shock sent Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) into a moment of rage, and he shot Dawn directly in the head. So what's next for the character?
The "Mega Buzz" column at TV Guide refers to a statement from showrunner Scott Gimple, who indicated that Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) new brutal attitude could cause some in his group to question his leadership. But Daryl won't be one of those people, especially after Beth's death according to Reedus.
"Daryl has always got his back," Reedus told TV Guide. "Daryl would have run over the cop with a car too - he just would have run right through him. I don't think it meant Rick was more crazy... than anyone else."
He's referring to the scene at the beginning of the midseason finale in which Rick runs over Officer Lamson, who was trying to escape. The collision doesn't kill him, but Rick shoots him shortly thereafter.
But could Daryl's feelings toward Rick eventually change? "I think there's humanity left in Rick," he said. "But Daryl always has Rick in his peripheral vision. Always."
