The Walking Dead recently aired its Season 5 midseason finale, but news of the spinoff series continues to swirl. The companion series has found its lead actor, Cliff Curtis.

Deadline reports Curtis will play the male lead in the spinoff series as a divorced teacher who tries to do the best he can for everyone in his life. The female lead, a guidance counselor, has not yet been cast.

The series will be set in the same apocalyptic world as The Walking Dead but in a different location from Rick Grimes and his crew.

Deadline previously reported that Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey have been cast in the spinoff series, which is tentatively titled "Cobalt." Adam Davidson will direct the new series.

The spinoff will occur at approximately the same time as The Walking Dead but in an entirely different location from the Georgia region where Rick Grimes and friends have been surviving. The series will tell the story of a divorced male teacher and a female guidance counselor who are fighting to stay alive amongst the zombies. Deadline reports Dillane and Carey will play the woman's son and daughter, respectively. The son has a drug problem, while the daughter is "ambitious."

The 23-year-old Dillane is perhaps best known for his work as a young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince, while Carey has appeared in Into The Storm.
