Coldplay's Last Album? Chris Martin Says He's Retiring After 'A Head Full of Dreams'
It's a sad day for fans of the British band, Coldplay, as lead singer, Chris Martin, just revealed that the next studio album will most likely be the band's last together. The guys are hard at work on their new project, which will be their seventh studio album together as a band and it's also looking like their final. Tentatively titled A Head Full of Dreams, the project will follow up their massively successful sixth studio album Ghost Stories.
The star opened up in an interview with BBC 1's Zane Lowe last week, relating the project to the finale of a very popular book series, Harry Potter.
"It's our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it's like the last Harry Potter book or something like that," the singer revealed to the news outlet. "Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something."
But for those fans that are devastated by the news, Martin talks about the silver lining, saying, "I have to think of it as the final thing we're doing, otherwise we wouldn't put everything into it."
Time also reported on the album being the boy's last while also commenting on the fact that they are still at the top of their game, having one of the top selling albums of 2014 and also being nominated for multiple Grammys.
See if Coldplay can take home the Grammy award for the best pop vocal album and best duo/group performance when the show airs on February 8.
